A pleasing ceremony took'> place at a meeting of the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club last evening, when the Club's captain (Mr A. D. Gillies), who is shortly to join the. ranks of the benedicts, was the recipient of a handsome silver fruit stand from the members of the Club. In making the presentation., Mr A. Eddy (vice-captain) referred to the many sterling qualities of Mr Gillies, and they.all \wislied him every, future hap-, pkiess. Messrs A. J. McEwen, JGeorgeson. a,:ul \V. Dickson endorsed the remark's of the previous speaker, and the recipient suitably responded.
