THE HIGH COMMISSIONER.
The term of appointment of Sir William Ha.U-J'ones as High Commissioner for the Dominion ends .to-day. From an article, appearing in the .N.Z. Times of yesterday, it would appear that no provision has been made for a. successor to Sir William, 'and that the affairs of 'the country are to be entrusted in the meantime to one of the office ,ataff. ' Tliis iis a position. c.f affairs which" is highly discraditabj'e to the 'Government, and one which ..cannot be tolerated.".-'The Times very properly demands that .the Premier should 'm'qke a statement upon the question at,once.
