SUGGESTED ALLIANCE
WIDESPREAD COMAIEXT CAUSED. (Received May 28, S a.m^) LONDON, May 27. The .Morning Post's suggestion that the Entente between France and Britain should heconio an alliance has aroused widespread comment. The Spectator cordially advocates an | alliance. The Paris correspondent of The Times Kays the «aitente is much more effective as a deterrent than an alliance would be, .except upon the basis of am overwhelming la.nd force, which is not available. The Manchester Guardian says an alliance is unnecessary. It would be unwise to make the international situation more unstable and greatly extend the war area.
PARIS, May 27. Le Temps approves the discussion, but insists that neither side should propose anything that would increase its obligations without adequate compensation.
Other French papers are cautious in their remarks upon the subject.
