On Saturday last, on the Feathereto n links, Miss J. .Robieson, of Ma:terton, had an easy win against Mrs. Saunders, the holder of the Cotter 'Challenge Rose Bowl, hy .7 up anil J to play. The winner played a fine game.

The Masterton. team was very tight, the forward line, proving very tveak, and being irepefltedly outclassed Sjy the Carterton, heavy-weights . The first spelll 'was much in favour of Carterton, the score being 14 to nil. On changing sides <Mnsterton became aggressive, and spurred on by Iheir many "barrackers," soon had last year's champions in trouble, a.nd •at last, after a neat passing bout,.L. 'Johns sectored the ball and made a .'brilliant run, scored near the corner. fTlie kick at goal was- fruitless. Soon ■'after the blacks were again pressing, bu£ Carterton's sound three-quarter Jinio was not to be broken. The remainder of play was mostly in Masterton's twenty-fives, and the Carterton forwards;, headed by Blake and Desmond, and MeKenzie, broke ahrougli Masterton's defence and scored. Tfries were scored for Carterton by Desmond' (2)„ Blake, McKenzie, Madsen and iMmlhpny, two of which were converted by Whytte. Rev. Ashprof t was .referee. JUNIOR. CARTERTON 9 v. RED STAR 0. Carterton met and defeated Red Sta it on the Carterton showgrounds, •after ai very keen and even. game. The score for Carterton: was made up by one converted try and a potted g0a1.,. 'For Red Star, iMdHiattie and Ross scored, neither try being converted. GREYTOWN 6 v. DALEFIELD 0. A drawn game was played between Greytown and Dalejfiekl, at Greyfown, both ..sides scoring two tries. The game was close and interesting THIRD CLASS. (RED STAR 14 v. MASTERTON 0. This match, played on the old showgrounds, was a very good game, and attracted as much interest as the sen-, far match. The first spell was very even, Masterton nearly ©coring on several occasions. The Red Star backs fehowed excellent combination. The good line kicking by J. Darvill, of the Masterton team, was a feat lire of the match. Tries were scored by T. Treen, J. Diggins, <S. Hoar and E. 'Wiokens, one of which was converted % J. Ewington.
