DOCKERS' DISPUTE
SIR EDWARD CLARKE. TO CONDUCT AX ENQUIRY. (Received Last Night, 11 o'clock.) LONDON, May 23. Sir Edward Clarke has been appointed to enquire into the London dockers' dispute. THE QUESTION OF NON-UNTCX- , ISTS. AND DEATH STRUGGLE. (Received This Morning, 12 o'clock ) LONDON, May 23. The lightermen partially unloaded the Australian cargoes from the Maloja and the Demosthenes, and then raised objections, including the employment of three non-unionists. Despite 'the orders of the dock authorities they refused to continue. Mr' Gosling announced that? the Transport Federation was taking the dispute <nit of the hands of the lightermen. He did not think that the Government could deta.l .with '-, a "dispute which involved a life and death struggle on the question whether .unionists would work with non-unionists. The Federation officials expect that 80,000 will he on strike by the end of the week.
