As an. indication 1 of the enthusiastic imb&rest evinced 'by the public in the .third animal fixture, it miay be mentioned that Notwithstanding tiie heavy rain that set in' early in t'he forenoon and continued right thro'tiighou'b the day, the aibedance was excellent, the gate receipts suffering to the extent of only Mi ifew pounds when compared with the gathering of 1911. Your Committee is c-n'l'y voicing t'he popular opinion in saying ilhat under favourable weather •xndit.br.s th 3 gate takings would have been -mc-roused by at least fifty (pounds. Jt is gratifying-to learn that the aiieirJbe'rship of the Association is steadily swelling, thare being an increase of .about 20 members on the previous year. The entries, taking thcin a'il round, were ahead of those .received .for 3 91.1, especially as regards the quality cf the exhibits diown— a feature of the gathering toeing the romarkaibly fine display of ' cattle, .the Hokteins in particular .being tvell (to the .fore, and'attracting' mvJ.i attention. The cmtry fees reajivod shoiv am increase of .£2O 2s over the previous year, hi purchasing J a portion of the Hall 1 Estate, iso contiguous to the town, and on such reasonable terms, your Cbmmifbee was well .advised, and :■& to be leongratuanted.
