The Wellington Appeal Court has adjourned until July Ist. A boot 'and shoe factory is, we understand, about to be established in Masterton. The Masterton .Workers' Mutual Benefit Building Society will hold a ballot for £3OO, and a sale of £3OO on Juno 13th. Tho Masterton Workers Mutual Benefit and Building Society held the i fortnightly paynigM 'last evening, When the sum of £3OO was paid in. Tb was stated at the meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust last evening that the net receipts from the Town Hull for the past month had amounted to about £7O. The assets of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, including land and build-in'o-s are valued by the Secretary at fully £60,000. A good deal of interest is being evinced 7n the official opening of the recently formed Masterton Harrier Club, which takes place this afternoon, i'he members of tho Club will bo entertained by tho Vice-President of the Club (tho Rev. The Wellington Court of Appeal gave judgment yesterday in the case of Levin, v. Commissioner of Taxes. The Court unanimously held that, the annuity -of £3OOO, which was not ch'arged upon the corpus of the estate, but was payable out of the estate, and which was unregistered, wias liable to income-tax. Costs amounting to £3O were, allowed to the Commissioner of Taxes. A (New .Plymouth wire states .that judgment was given yesterday miorh■ing in the celebrated Matakana Island case, in which W. C. Robinson sued Henry Sanson for specific performance. The hearing occupied several days in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth, and afterwards was argued in Wellington. Judgment" goes for plain-tiff, with costs on the highest scale. Extensive alterations, .are to he taken in hand immediately at the Wellington Meat Export Company's works at Ngahaiiranga. The rush of .business seems to be restricted to but a (Comparatively ien: weeks of the year, and during that time the Avorks are much congested. In order to better meet this state of affairs, and to take full advantage of the business offering at the same time, the works will be enlarged in certain directions. According to a Dunedin telegram, the members of the City Fire Brigade .aire very indignant over the appointment of an outsider to .the position of superintendent. They point out that the appointment means tlhab instead of three promotions of local men ithere will be none. At a meeting of the members of the Brigade a motion was iinanimotisly passed expressing indignation. The 'attitude of the Wellington City Council was cited, in promoting the members of its Brigade, as an example 'that sliouM he- followed by the- TXinedin Fire Board.

Mr T. J. Thompson, of uVlasterton, has received,a communication from Mr H. F. Allen, Secretary'of the Wellington Industrial Association, in reference to the proposal to hold an "indtrstries week" in this town. Mr Allen points out that '{-industries weeks" have been held in Wellington and Ohristchurdh, and they proved eminently successful in attracting the attention of people as to whiatcan be and is .being-manufactured in this country. The Wellington Industrkl Association was-well-supported by the New Zealand Shopkeepers' Association., and shopkeepers went to a great deail of trouble by specially dressing their windows, and attaching neatly printed cards on the articles exhibited, setting 'forth that tihe goods, were manufactured in New Zealand. Mr Allen adds: "I wish you every success in tihe movement."

A most enjoyable concert was held last evening at the Territorial encampment on the old Masterton show- ! grounds.
