FIRE AT PAHIATUA
BUSINESS PREMISES DESTROYED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PAHIIATUA, Last Night. A disastrous fire occurred in Pahiatua early on Saturday morning, wiherehy the premise's owned and. occupied by Messrs J. W. Sturton and Co., general storekeepers, were totally destroyed. The building was the large-st of its kind in Pahipitua, and was a fine, commodious structure. The cause of the fire is a mystery. Mr Sturton and some friends were in-the shop oh Friday nigjht, but when they left everything appeared safe. A valuable stock was carried. The building was insured in the Liverpool, London and Globe office for £I6OO, and the fixtures in the same office for £4OO. The risks on tihe stock were also held in the eame office and in the South British. The amount held by the former is £725, hut. t,he amount held by the latter is not available at present. The total loss is estimated at £IOOO.
