Mr-Arthur Anstice„ of Masterton, has been appointed to the charge of the Feilding Baptist Church.
Mr Edward Prince, an old Wellington resident, died on Friday, aged 81 years. Mr Prince, who was a native of Wales, arrived in Wellington on the j 17th March, 1841, and with the exception of a brief residence at- Otaki, has lived in Wellington" since that date. . He experienced some troublous | times during the native rising. He | was a noted rider in the days when the j races were held on the Te Aro Flat, Petone beach, and elsewhere in the early fifties. The following survive the deceased:—Four sons—Henry John (Kaikoura), Charles (Kaikoura), Edward Grant (Carterton), and Robert Kirk (of the New Zealand Times), and five daughters—Mrs Ardley (Christchurch), Mrs- Studley (Wellington), Mrs Plummer (Ohristchurch), Mrs T. Black (Sydney), and Miss Alice Maud Prince, also residing in Sydney.
A Press Association message from Gisborue announces the death of Mr W. L. Rees, a well-known barrister and solicitor. Mr Rees for a time occupied a seat in Parliament.
It is very probable that the Hon. G. Fowlds will shortly visit Masterton and deliver an address in the interestsof the United Labour Party.

Another' old settler of the Rangitikj ei district, Mr J. G. Blackwell, passed ' away at his residence at Marton on Thursday night, after a long and painful illness borne with groat fortitude. ( Deceased, who .was 70 years of age r came to New Zealand in 1862, and was-; I bom at Enstone, Oxford, England. jHe was'-a plasterer by trade, but soon ! afer his arrival he took-up land at. Greatford, where he resided for about 3o years. Of late years deceased has I resided in Marton. He was a Maori j War veteran, and also took part in, the Pariliaka expedition.
