The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company' Ltd., liave received the following cablegram from their London house: —■ * Tallow: —We quote present spot values for the following descriptions : Good mutton, 35s 6d per ewt; good beef, 34s 3d; mixed, 31s 9d. The market is dull. Wheat: —We have sold an Australian cargo at 39s 6d, c.i.f. There is very little demand, and the outlook is discouraging. CLEARING SALE AT CLAREVILLE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Gl-areville on Thursday wo held a highly successful sale of dairy cows, horses and implements, etc.,, on account of Mr Henry Preston. There was a large attendance, and bidding was spirited throughout the sale. A total clearance was made at very satisfactory prices. Dairy cows brought from £3 15s to £lO ss, averaging slightly over £6; springing heifers, £o

to £7; woaner calves, £2 10s; breeding sews, £1 16s to £2 ss; slips, 5s 6d to 8s 6d; light farm horses, acred, £l2 15s to £l6. Impleir.ents 'and sundries met with good competition, and realised good prices. CLEARING SALE AT OPAKI. Messrs James Macintosh and Co. report having.held a very successful clearing sale on account of John Hart. Esq., at his farm, Opaki (which has lately been sold), when they "ffcred all his live and dead stock, which met with good competition and realised good prices. AH the sheep and horses come forward in tlie best order, and undoubtedly were a credit to the vendor. The implements being in good .order and condition, met with keen competition, and sold well up to clearing sale rate.
