INDUSTRIES WEEK
PROPOSED FOR MASTERTON. The question of holding an industries week in Master ton was discussed at. the quarterly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday, on a letter from Mr T. J. Thompson (a member) suggesting that the motion' be taken up.
The Secretary stated that Mr Dickson had taken an.active interest in the Palmerston industries week. Mr W. E. Chamberlain favoured the proposal and moved, "That this Chamber heartily approve® of the suggestion! that an industries week be held, and that a Committee consisting of the President;, Vice-Presidents, and Messrs Chamberlain and Spain, be appointed to make arrangements for the holding of a public .meeting to discuss the matter."
Mr G. C. Summer-ell seconded the resolution. He thought the idea was a good one. He pointed out that it had previously been advocated, but no action had been taken. The Agricultural Association had' been approached in the matter, but had not favourably entertained the proposal. (Mr James Brown considered the-pro-posal a, good one, but did not think the matter one for the Chamlber. ,Mr 0. E. Dan'iell was strongly in favour of the project, 'He thought, however, the Oharnibcr. should do. more than show its sympathy. The idea was to hold the iivdusti;ie.s week during Competitions Week. Personally he was disposed to vote £2O towardsthe project. They should do everything possible to push the town along. Mr G. H. Perry -agreed with Mr Daniell.
After some further discussion, the resolution* was put and oarried unanimously.
