At Portland, Oregan, twenty-four square miles of timber was burned through forest fires. In the Oregon, and Washington iStiates many lumber mills have been destroyed. Several villages ar? threatened. There aire large forces of fire fighters at work.

LOGGING CAMPS WIPED OUT DAMAGE AMOUNTS TO MAN\ , MILLIONS. (Received Last Night, 11. o'clock.) OTTAWA, May 15. The dry weather has started numerous forest fires in the Western States, and in various parts of British Columbia. Many logging camps have been wiped out. The business section of a town on the seaside of Oregan was destroyed. Hundreds are homeless. The total damage amounts to millions of dollars.
