The Englishmen batted first, amd commenced well, the first wicket falling for 108, of which Tarrant made 67. At lunch the score was 102 for 3 •wickets, Tarrant 101, but Tan ant added only three after lunch. Fry and Day rcr.vdo a good stand for tiho fifth wicket, which fell at 240, but tho others did not offer much resistance to Pegler and Hartigan, amd the innings closed for 293.
