(Received May 14, 9 .a.m.)
LONDON, May 13
Through ,tihe award by Lord'Mlereey, chairman of the Northumherland Conciliation Board, with respect to minors' wages being retrospective, the men will have a windfall of twenty thousand pounds in accumulated 'wages.

The president of the Federation considers the 5s minimum worth fighting for; it would mean a considerable advance to many who are now underpaid.
Lord Mersey's award fixes the minimum rates for underground workers in Northumberland mines as follows: Day workers, 4s 9d;pieco workers, 5s 8d; boys, 2s to 3s 6d (according t<> age); putters, 4s; and deputy 'hewers and engiiunen, 5s 6d. The hewers claimed from 6s 3d to 7s !)d.
