■CAPETOWN, May 11.
In the Assembly, during the debateon the Hon. T. W. Smart's motion list favour of holding an enquiry into native assaults, it was stated that 20 firms were .engaged in illicit liquor* selling, and this was largo responsible for the assaults.
General Botha declared that the time was coming when they must ser~. jpusly consider the preventing of tha intermingling of whites and natives!. He promdsed a Commission to folly 1 investigate the matter.
