Tho weather was fine but the- attendance was small when the match l>etween Australia' and Northamptonshire was resumed. The wicket was in good order. Seymour and Haywood faced the howling of Emery and Minnett and with the score at 25 Seymour was out to a low-two-handed catch in the slips hy Jennings. Tho bowling, which was steady, was carefully watched. The partnership 'between Smith and Haywood only added twelve runs when |Sinith, playing late to Alinnett, was bowled. With Thompson in, the half-century was 'hoisted after 55 minutes play, but at 63 Haywood hit over a yorker and was bowled. He gave a chance in .the same over to Carkeek, who was standing back. •/. Denton assisted Thompson to add 80, when he ,was easily caught by Jarkeek, standing back to Kelloway. The ihatsman were very watchful, and W.
