The engine fell thii'L> feet. into the creek below. The driver, Mr I?. K. Turpin, aged 40, a married man with live children, and a resident of Port Ahuriri, was killedinstantly, the top of liis head bf'ing crushed between the cah and the bridge timber. His mate Laurence Williams, of Kis.sington, I ell into the water beneath the engine, and remained th<;ro until. the steam was clear. Ho was scalded about the face and leg, but wias not otherwise seriously injured. Ho has been removed to the Napier Hospital. _
