Gunn faced the howling of McLaren, and Whitby. Tine weather was hot and the wicket faster. The attendance numbered a thousand. McLaren was noballed three umes for dragging over. Jones made some tine cuts, while Gunn's score was mainly made by on play. The half century was 'hoisted in 50 j minutes. The bowlers were pitching I the ball too far up, and the fielding j was uneven. I Matthews relieved Hazl'itt at 85, j Jones being then 4.7, chiefly made by singles.
