OBITUARY
MR john Mcdonald, of hillside. Another old Wairarapa settler, in the.■■■person of Mr John Meßiomald, of Hillside, Martiniborough, parsed away at 10.30' ton; Wednesday night, at the age of G9 years, after a' lingering illness. Deceased .was born at Strathoonan, on the (Balfour Estate in ,Riotheaty, Scotland, in; the year 1842, and' caime to New teZaland ahout 1867. In' 1874 Mr MloDbnald resided in tlie Wairarapa,- and inferried: Miiiss J. M. McKenzifc, cf. Master'ton, in the sarnie year. Mr McDonald went to Martinl- - and took aip a small farm in tih'e. HJilltaJde' vadimity lin aibout the 1 year 1887, and litois not left the district since, thus making him. a resident for 2& years. Of a kindly dii.s-p'osition,-Mr McEicnaild : was diked and respected by all whom he came in contact with, and Ms demise will be greatly regretted by a Ctarge rcumiber of isettlers fo the'district. Deceased leaves a iwidtow and two daughters (Mrs EJ. McLeod and Mrs M. Mo Leod,, of Martinbcrouigh) to mourn their" loss..— Martiniborough Star.
