Bates, of the Meteorological Office, this evening issued the following report: — Moderate to strong south-easterly winds have prevailed, with cool and cdiangeable weather,, and showery at (times >in the northern-most di&tiric'its.' The barometer is sftifl' high everywhere. Present indications are for easterly j •winds, strong to gale northward of East Cape and" Rawhia. South-east-erlies, increasing theuee to Kaikoura | and Farewell S,pit, and moderate to ■sitaong southerlies elsewhere. Unsettled and stormy weather probable in the North Island shortly, with heavy | Irani in the northern districts, and rain, probably following over the North Is-J land.
