Tlhe Teachers' Institute .to-day decided to start a- cruisade for a imiinimuim of £l5O ifor sole teactors in ama'll schctolis, and for the cessation of the (miultipli , ca!ti''aii 'of smalll ischoo'ls, by the substitution of a conveyance' system. The large .number of small (schools is one reason why salaries are : kept down-. The result is inefficiency, and tlhe total cost As greater, with a less return forth© imonley expended. A firtisnde, to take theiftcrm' of initerviewing -the Minister, and having conferences with /members of Parliament, and the hike, has been started. The present system is characterised as a. disgrace xo the country. The conveyance of children 'is stated' ito- have .been such a .success in Victoria: rbhat 300 small ischoolls .Have been closed tlhcre since the conveyance of children system has 'been adclpted. ,
