CARTERTON. Mr W. Bailey, of Wellington, has accepted tho position as judge of pigeons at tho South Wairarapa Poultry Association's show here next July.' A very successful benefit concert was given here last night (Thursday) in aid of Mr W. Fisher, who has been an invalid for tho past three years. The Masterton Pipe Band assisted, and played a programme down High Street prior to tho commencement of the entertainment. It is expected that the nett proceeds of the concert together with subscriptions, will realise about £IOO. Thero has been a very hearty response to a very deserving cause. The Carterton Fire Brigade Ins accepted a tender for tho alteration of tho porch at the social hall, new stairs, and concreting tho alleyway. Tho .statutory meeting of the local Borough Council for the installation of Mayor, was held on Wednesday evening, when Mr F. Feist signed the >sual declaration and took his seat as Muyor, for a second term. An informal disc ission was held by the councillors present on borough affairs generally. Ihe Mayor intimated that the important question of the water supply would receive serious and immediate attention, and it was arranged that the Councillors as a .body should visit tho waterworks next Thursday and make therni selves thoroughly acquainted with tho position. Tho Works Committee traversed the Borough yesterday afternoon, with tho object of forming a general idea of the condition and requirements of the various streets.

MAUEJCEVILLE. \A very interesting match was fired at Maurioevillo on Thursday evening last between, the married and single members of the Morris Tube Club.
