LONLt -V, April 2i> ; Owing to tlie strong opposition ■ Known to the measure by members of the House of Commons, Sir George Marks, Liberal member for the Laun•ceston Division of Corn ■* all, withdrew his Bill (read a second .me on March 7th last) empowering the owners ol single schools areas to transfer their schools to ttie local authorities, and further providing that if owners-desired denominational teaching be given twice weekly sit the denominations' expense, the 'denominations to be allowed to use tho schools on Saturdays and Sundays.
