MINISTER OF EDUCATION
OPENS WOODVILLE TECHNICAL SCHOOL. (By Telegraph—Frets Association.) ■ W.OODVIIiLE, Last Night. I The Technical School in Wobdville was opened 'tflri/s- afternoon, by the Minister for Education, the Hon. J. A. Hanan. The function was a very successful one, there also being present Messina Morgan, and Ross (members of-the JEHawkes Bay Education, Board), Escott (member for the dis-> trLet), Judge G-iMedder (Native Land* \ Court), and if orris (Agricultural In- | stsnrctor). GVft* Biirnett, (chairman of the School Coimmitrtee) presided. After an exhibition of drill by the children, ithe Minister •performed the cere--mony of. opening. £he new school build-, ing. Addresses were delivered hy the Minister- and visitors, the (burden being, the advantage of "technical education and of oontinua.tion. classes. The Minister foreshadowed the making of attendance at the latter compulsory. Afternoon tea was served to all present 'by the senior girls. After the, function, various deputations waited' on the Minister in reference ,to district matters arfd the requirements of the Hawke's ißay -Education Board.
