Two heavy frosts were experienced last week, but the weather for the greater part of the time has heen exceptionally mild, [Rain is now setting in, and the fine spell seems to liavc broken up. The main road from Hastwell and tthe Mount Bruce Road are at present nndergo in g necessary repairs, so there is a bail time ahead for cydiete and motorists who venture into the dli strict. On Thursday last, attendance prizes presented by the School Committee weire awarded as follows: First prizes : Eva Falkner, Katie Lozell, Myrtle Thomson, Percy Samuex, James McAnulty, Arthur Pike. Second prizots: Ida Parker, Rosa. Hawkins, J'aones Hansen, Leslie Parker, Frank TayJor, Eirncst Pike. The Jiijv-hest attendances for the two years ending i March ols.t, 1912, were recorded by < Percy Sunnex. Good conduct prizes I were won by Gertie Hansen and Ko- ] Hand Harvey. The prizes were distn- I huted by the cJiairmaai of the School Committee, Mr Falkner, who, in a few inspiring words, urged upon the children the necceeity of regular attendance, a'nd cf diligence in pr<:f7j- ; outing their studies. Mir Lozeil also | addressed the children, and complimented the winners of the good conduct prizes. The report of the retiring was listened to with-keen attention,! and after its adoption a -hearty vote of , thanks was returned to the relieving members.
