At the H.B. Motor Cycle Club's sports held on the Hastings t Rawcourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically wept .the board: Out of an entry of 12 machines rejjcesenting 5 different makes the Triumph's secured ten. firsts, seven seconds, 'and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. . This performance is all the-more remarkaole when it is considered tihat the Triumphs had to concede Ilarge handicaps to maohines of equal power and six of "the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt om the existing figures of the Wellington, to Napier record-~ viz., Shrs 35min., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year & Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In spite of several attempts on* other makes of machines, this record has to the credit of the Triumph for three vears. Mir Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on Naw Year's Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., Ins time being 61rrs. 38mm., Towering the previous record by nearly tave hours-. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stops being to take in petrol and is' only perfect machines made wOffl the finest material procurable that ( can average 83£ miles an hour over I 230 milegi of New Zealand roads. _ , Those who were ■at the Napier j Post Office at the finish could not help but remark on the perfect conr difcion of the machine at the fisish. The Triumph is not only made fox speed. It has proved itself to be the machine for hard work and long wear, and is perfectly adapted to New Zealand roads.
