I line Fire Brigade Fire Police | turned -out prdprtly,' and were on | tho scene of tho 'fire in a very short time, when it was seen that the con-flsgafcu-'oh had started in a private house in Wrigley Street, owjied and occupied by Mr H. H. Wimsett, who. was at the time the only person in the .'house, his wiife being away on a holiday, and 'his .two sons occupying a tent in the garden. When tho Fi-re Ba-iga.de arrived at the burnlhig building, tho .fire had « complete hold of it,- rfndvall efforts of tho Brigado were, unavailing, the building, being completely gutted. A small quantity of furniture -was saved, but was considMr;Wim£ett; started ,that.he opuid in no way account for the outbreak, as he was always very oadtail'.' .He was up,at 12 o'clock, wh'd everything was alright. Later on in the morning he was-'awakened by the densc smoke wfliiioh filled his room, a,nd which almost /suffocated him. The fire was by this time aill 'round him, and half blih'ded by the smoke, it was with difficulty *hiat ho esoiaped by the window, access by the door bekig rendered im-. pcsrible. Mr ■Wircisett managed to save some elctk-s-.by •tliiWiiig them but of the window. Tho 'building v.c* insured in- the' North-oni .office for £250, an dtbe furniture wa,s insured for £IOO in the South Bri'tirii. Mr Wimsott stated that his less over nvnd above the in-«-urfince m pretty considerable, a, quantity <jf Valuable property having been ■ destroyed.
