Motor Cycle Club's sports held 011 the Hastings t Eaoe-; course 011 Boxing Day, the Triumph* again practically wept the board. Out .of an entry of 12 machine® representing 5. different makes, the Triumphs secured ten., firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more rem&rkaMe when it is considered fcihat' the" Triumphs had to concede targe handicaps to machines of equal powerand six of the ten first machines- were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, "Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make am attempt oni tho existing figures ol the Wellington, to Napier recordviz., Bhrs 35rain., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on. a Triumph. In. spite of several attempts on other makeß of machines, this record has l stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Posit Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's' Day, and. arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being Ghrs. 38min., towering the, previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two Btops being to take in petrol and oil.
