Out .of an entry of 12 machine® representing 5. different makes, the Triumphs secured ten., firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more rem&rkaMe when it is considered fcihat' the" Triumphs had to concede targe handicaps to machines of equal powerand six of the ten first machines- were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, "Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make am attempt oni tho existing figures ol the Wellington, to Napier recordviz., Bhrs 35rain., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on. a Triumph. In. spite of several attempts on other makeß of machines, this record has l stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Posit Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's' Day, and. arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being Ghrs. 38min., towering the, previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two Btops being to take in petrol and oil. It Ls> only perfect machines made from til© finest material procurable that can average 33$ miles an hour over 230 miles of New Zealand roads. Those who wore at the Napier Post Office at the finish could ijot help but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at the finish, lie Triumph is not only made for spedd. It has proved itself to be the machine for- hard work . and long wear, and is perfectly adapted to New Zealand roads.
