Wirless messages received from various ships at the scene of the wreck make it clear that none of the passengers have been rescued other than those picked up by the Carpathian. The Captain of the Parisian, states that if any clung to the wreckage they must have perished from exposure. The liner Tomain on Wednesday entered the icefield, but quitted it on Thursday. The Tourain warned the Titanic on Friday and received the captain's thanks.
An. official at Harland and Wolff's (tlxe builder's of the lost vessel) thinks that after colliding with the iceberg the Titanic swerved and careered along the edge of the ice floe, her side being ripped open, otherwise her bulk heads would have saved her. Eight representatives of the firm were aboard the vessel. SEVENTY-NINE MEN SAVED. Seventy-nine men have been saved, of whom sixty-oight belong to the crew which was necessary to man the boats. BOAT ACCOMMODATION. The'Daily'Mail states that the Titanic was provided with 100 per c-tit. more boat accommodation that the Board of Trade required, but the provision has proved altogether inadequate. LOSS ESTIMATED AT FIVE MILLION . The financial Times estimates the total loss at £5,000,000, including, besides- the vessel, cargo, and .mails, life and other -insurances.
