TOWN AND COUNTRY.
Some months ago this paper drew attention to the fact- that Wellington City was doing nothing to bring the Wainarapa into touch with the seaboard. It was then urged that an excursion of city representative, people should be arranged for, so that the disabilities from .which we suffer 'in...the.way of railway and road'communication might be brought home to the people of Wellington. Although; no active steps have'been?-taken to? give effect to this suggestion, it >:& (satisfactory' to nqte that the Chnirma.n of the Wellington Chamber of Cbm/merce proposes setting up a commvittee to report,, among other-things, upon, the improvement desirable in the railway" service to the -Wairarapa. If the Mastertoii Ohamlber were to suggest to the " Wellington Chamiber the desirability, of. arranging a .visit. to; that 1 ' there would be a> willing response.';
