THE NORTHERN APPROACHES.
The Masterton. County and Borough ,Cbuncils are agreed that the work at the northern approaches has cost too mn<th tmoney. To carry out the original plans would involve an expenditure of a further considerable sum. It has'been suggested, therefore, that *he plans be somewhat modified. As the Borough Council, However, refuses •to find its proportion of.the money required for .a modified scheme, it is probable that the County Council will proceed to complete the work according to the plans provided in the Governor's warrant. This 'will mean that steps wil subsequently 'bo- taken to ascertain the legal position. It would be well, in the meantime, in order to avoid expensive litigation on top of expensive work, if the two bodies concerned were to agree to take independent legal advice, and to be bound by that advice.
