DERBYSHIRE SURFACEMEN RESUME.

LONDON, April 15. A demonstration of shop assistants, barmen, bakers, and waitresses in Trafalgar Square carried a resolution asking the Government to establish a im.in.imum wage. The Derbyshire surfacemen have agreed to - resume. The Dundee jute strike has ended. The workers have obtained a 2£ per cent, advance.

STRIKE OF TRANSPORT WORKERS DENIED.

' LONDON, April 14. I Miners at Leigih, Lancashire, entertained the soldiers sent to main- _ tain order, the soldiers to-day mareh'ed to church headed by" the Leigh Naval and Army A 7 etera.ns' Band. Two hundred engine men at Bargoed, Glamorganshire, Wales, have resumed work. The engine men in the- Cwyman colliery at Aberdare, Wales, are resuming to-morrow. The. District Committee of the Transport Workers' Federation and the executive of the Dockers' Union passed a ■ resolution, denouncing irresponsible- statements regarding the possibility' of a general strike of transport workers early in the summer, and adding that' it was not intended to discuss the question.
