FIREMAN M'LEAN'S DEATH

. WESLIMGTON, Last Night. Ab. the -inquest' on Fireman W. E'. a verdict wae returned that death was due to cardiac and res.jpiratory failure, caused by a strong current of electricity. passing through fail* body. Superintendent O'Brien (Stated that he had instructed deceased to go on .to the roof adjoining the bxirning building, and McLean grasped th© ironwork of the ladder, and screamed and hung limp. Rubber gtoyes were proeured, and a line was passed round the body, which was then removed. It .was impossible to erect ladders in \Vellington streets without touching wires. In this instance the heat from, the fire had damWSged the insulation. A medical witness said that death tavust hare been instantaneous. It ■would have been unsafe to a/btempt to remove McLean sooner than was done. '•Another .witness said, about five (minutes elapsed, before the body was freed.
