Will Sir Joseph Ward resign his position in Parliament when he takes up the active duties of Imperial Trade Cbjiimisisioner ? The; Cpmtmissianera are to he paid their travelling expenses by the Home Government, but are to receive no salary from that quarter. It was understood, when the matter came .up at the Imperial Conference, that eafch State, .or.Dominion, would pay its own Commissioner. It is etated tih&t "the Commonwealth' intends paying its representative £2OOO a year. In all decency, New Zealand cannot'offer its Commissioner.less. If bur Parliament offers Sir Joseph Ward £2OOO a year, and he. accepts it, can Jie hold his position as a mecmIber ctf the House? That is a question which will require answering.
