DERBY RACE
TQi.3 above Club held its Young Bird ■Derby Race from Blenheim on Saturday last. The day was .not favourable for fast .times, owing to adverse winds in the Straits, but the -first, and second birds, which homed about forty minutes, ahead of the rest, put up a very meritorious fly- The winner proved to be one of the youngest members, of the Club, in the person of •Mr G. Pember, whose bird did the 100 miles airline distance in 3 hours 18 minutes. Mr J. B. V. Sutherland secured second place, being 2iuiu behind Mr Fenuber's time. The winner holds the isilver kettle and spirit lamp for one year. This trophy has to be won ii>wice ire. succession, or three times at intervals, and so far ibhe different winners have been H..
