MR J. 0. EMMETT APPOINTED.
j At the meeting of the Mastcrton A. [and P. Association on Saturday last,; ,Air J. B. Eimnett was elected permanent secretary from twenty-eight applications. The Finance Committee had reduced the number from twentyeight to four, and from the latter the General Committee had to make a selection. The final ballot was ''between Mr Emmett and a gentleman from Hawke'® Bay, and Mr.Emmett secured the position by 17 votes to 7. The new secretary has been actings secretary since the retirement of Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., and was responsible for the whole of the arrangements for the recent successful show. He had preYiooKsly been secretary of |tflie Association, and had done excellent work. Re has n good knowledge ' ;>f book-keeping, n thorough acquaintanee with the detaiJ work of .shows, .and an experien.ee of the district ' which should stand him in good stead.
