ENTERTAINED AT GREYMOUTH.

GREYMOUTH, Last Night. 'Hon. Jia®. Colvin, - Minister of Mines, was entertained at a banq ie . this evening, in honour of his firßt ( official visit to the West Coast., t The gathering was a. very enthusiastic one and was attended by the leading citi- [ zens of the town and district. The Minister was heartily congratulated on his appointment-, the opinion being freely expressed that the selection of the Hon. Mr Colvin as Minister of Mines was a very wise and happy one. ) The Hon. Jas. Colvin, in reply to tlie toasit of his health, thanked the [ liai'ge gathering for the very cordial reception accorded him. It had been . isaid that the present Cabinet was a t stop-giap, but that' was not so. The present Cabinet would' remain in office and do good work. The Opposition press had attacked one of the ( best men in the Dominion, in the person of Sir J. G. Ward. Sir Joseph j Ward was the ablest man in the Dominion, and he express ed v the opinion that before another twelve months, , Iliad passed Ssr Joseph would again I ibe. at the he&d of affairs..
