December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attonipt oni-.the existing figure* of the Wellington to Napier record—viz., Bhrs 35min., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on * Triumph. In spite of several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has ■stood to the'credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's' Day, and arrived at tbe Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being 6brs. 38min., Towering the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly jErom start to finish, the only two stops being to take in petrol and oil. It is' only perfect machines made from the finest material procurable that can average 33£ miles an. hour over 230 miles of New Zealand roads.
