The annual gathering in connection witih. the Wkiirara>pa. Amateur Athletic Club was held in the Masterton Park on Easter, Monday. The weather, was threatening throughou. the day, but rain held, off nrn.til the pircgram-me was put through. The attendance was very satisfactory,'-all things being considered, about £lO being, taken, at thegates. The arrangements, were carried, out without a hitch, thanks- to. the energy cf the ;sccreta.ry (Mr W. •Dickson) and his assistants. Mi* J. O. McKillop acted as starter, and gave every satisfaction. A great deal of interest was centred in the walking events, in which the champion, D. Cjashmvan competed. Oatshman .endea-, voured to lower Brady's- record of 12' rain. 14 3-sfth 'sees., which was put up in the two-mile event in 1906. The time occupied yesterday wae 14min. 153e05., but. competent judges were of opinion that Ckldbman could have | done .the .distance yhi, several -seconds'' shorter time. The wbfole of the running/events were weii contested. The win of J. W. Nicholson in the 440yde 'Ladies' Bracelet was very popular, the time recorded (50 3-sth sees), being very fa/st. The Five-mile Race (described as a Marathon) attracted a good deal cf attention. Afternoon i tea was provided in 'the kiosk by Miss | Capper, and light refreshments were ! dispensed by Mr G-. H.
