Tho Autumn Meeting of tifoe Wairarapa Racing Club Avas «pened at Tauherenikau on Saturday last, under the most favourable circumstances. The course was- in excellent Older, and some very fast times were legigiiered, in instances records lor the track being established. The \ VUI of s «a. Queen in the Easter Handicap was not unexpected, though the mare was v.ery nearly , beaten on the post by Sin apis. The starting of Ma* ■ '.mceiifc was, with a cou ; ple of exceptions, very good. An unfortunate ancidmt occurred in the Mahaki Hack ! Handicap, in which twelve horses were competing. The tape went up ivith tSie horses in a line, but the 'n aYi n' t0 KiTO the word go. J!iie result was that only the •P, homes finished, tihe remainder ot the field pulling up at various stages. The public was loud in its dem an d that the race be re-run; when (the starter announced that their© had been a start, there was a great demonstration against Oiim.
