William Herbert and David Charles Herries get £SOOO each, while William Herbert is one of the residuary legatees, who would apparently receive about £20,000 each. An interesting wedding was solemnised on Thursday afternoon, when Mr J. Alexander Briden, the eldest son of Mr J. C. Briden, was. married to Miss Elsie Truscptt, fifth daughter of Mr W. Traseott,' late, of Masterton. The l)ride, who was charmingly dressed in » navy blue tailor-made costume and hat to match, was given away by iicr father. The bride was attended by Miss Florrie Briden as bridesmaid, iind Mr J. Harper acted as best man.. The wedding ceremony was conducted by"'the Rev. Thompson. A long list r>i' valuable and useful presents were received, including a handsome dinner servico and dressing case from the employees of the Masterton Farmers-' Implement Company, and also a number of cheques. Mr and Mrs Briden left for New Plymouth, where the honeymoon will lie spent. A Palmerston North telegram states that Capt. Haydon, Councillor, exMayor and ex-president of the Chamber* of Commerce, was entertained by the citizens on Thursday night, and presented with a gold medal on the eve of his departure on 'a visit to Fill rope. A meeting of the Methodist officials of Hawera decided to extend a call in 1913 to the Rev. E. O. Blamires, now of Wellington. The resolution is subject to confirmation of the quarterly meeting and the annual conference. General Ishimoto, Japanese Minister of War, is dead. He was born in 1854. At Miss Hutchison's' .wedding in Oamara on Ma.rch 27th, several Wei- | lirigton people were in. evidence. The bridesmaids were Miss Vallance, of th y Wairarapa, Miss Irvine, the bridegroom's sister, Miss West and Miss Mace, from Masterton, and Miss Hayward, from the Hutt, all frocked in pale pink crepe de chine, with net and braiding and fringe of the same tone. Silver staffs, with bunches of tiger lilies, were carried, and small pin*. Juliet caps worn. The bride, too., added to her beautiful lace veil a Juliet, cap of tulle and tiny pink roses. Among the guests were Mrs Hay ward and Mrs Fitchott. An old and highly respected resident of Masterton in the person of Mrs Robt. Allen, relict of the late Robt. Allen, and eldest daughter of the late Mrs Michael Dixon, passed away at 2.-10 p.m. yesterday. The. deceased lady, who was seventy-six years of age, was born in Coventry, and arrived m New Zealand with her father in the forties, residing on the Manaia for ■ -many years. Her many kind actions and genial disposition endeared her to all Avith whom she came in contact. She leaves a family of six daughters and three sons to.mourn their loss — Alp. F. Exell, Mrs J. Devon port, Mrs Geo. Daysh, Miss M. Allen (Master-, tojv). Mrs A-. Rossitei- (Waikato), Mrs <*. Evernden (Gisborne), Mr R. J. Allen and Mr F. A. Allen (Masterton), and Mr J. A. Allen (Auckland). The funeral will, leave the residence of Mrs F. Exell, Queen Street South,' on Sunday, at 1.30 p.m.
