THE BLACK CAT.
On, Wednesday night .there reached the office of this .paper a lengthy telegram ((for which we were delighted to bare the pleasure of paying) describing, among other things, the experiences of a black cait which accompanied the Terra Nova, to Antarctica. The whole world was set'aglow 'by the mew© of a dog having fallen into a crevasse, and a .couple of ponies hav* ling drifted on an ice fk>e; but nobody wajs prepared for the shock attending the; announcement (that a black c*at had been washed overboard from the Terra Nova. Aaid so, at the risk of our reputation for up-to-date journalism!, we spared our readers the infliction. When the li:«stoi:y of Captain •Scott'is exploits in- Antarctica comes to Ibe written,, one of the most thrilling incidents of the terrible voyage will ,be the loss of that black cat!
