Many think that Dirge should have ,won: tihe March Handicap at Opaki, as Emerson mistook the winning post. Tito subsequent rnnning of Te Rati makes this open to doubt, but to onlookers it certainly looked as if Dirge •had the race won, when Emimeirson stopped riding her. A. large number of,the horses whidh raced at Al-astertori will take part in the Wairarapa Raciing Club's fixture.
V. H. Calelllo, the Hastings' trainer, will be represented at the Wairarapa meeting by Ariom, San. Pluie, i >a)nd Tigeuine. . Black Rett", one of A. Godfrey's ■charges, ran a very gcod race ait Opaki on the first day, but the rado ,diid not seem to do him any good, and lire was not prominent in Ms second attempt. R. Knox, with Sir Knox, and W. Garrett witih Sir Solo and After- ■ thought, leave this week for Feilding, where the trio claim engagements.
