Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 6 different makes* the Triumphs secured ten. firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events*. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is considered tihat the Triumphs had to concede forge handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur ridera. 'On December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt on the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier record—viz., Shrs 85mm., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also oil » Triumph. In, spite of several attempts on other make a of machines, this record has stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Day, and; arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., dm time being 6hrs. 38min., Towertng the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from atart to finish, the only tw> stops being to take in petrol and oil. It is only perfect machines made from the finest material procurable that can, average 33$ 'miles an hour over 230 milesi of New Zealand roads. Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish couH not help but remark on tihe perfect condition of the machine at the finish. The Triumph is not'only made for speed. It has proved itself to be the machine for hard work and long wear, and iis perfectly adapted-to New Zealand roads.
