HILLS—CARTER. A very pretty wedding was wilemnizcd at the residence of the bridegroom's parents at Matahiwi on Thursday last/when Mr H .H. Hillis, only son of Mr J. T. Hills, of Matahiwi. was united in the bonds of holy' matrimony to Miss Rosie L. Carter, youngest daughter of Mr W. Carter, Mar-gate, England. Theibride, who was given "away by Mr Harper, of Matahiwi, carried a shower boquet of .white «st«rs and roses, and was daintily attired in a white silk dress trimmed with silk laco and fringe, with the tisual veil and orange blossoms. Miss J>orothy Hills, .sister of the bridegroom, attended as bridesmaid, and wore a dress; of silk lustre, trimmed, '■with all-over lace and insertion, and 'carried a bouquet of pale pink and white sweet peas. The gift of the bridegroom to the bride was a gold bangle, and to the bridesmaid a gold pendant and chain. Mr Edward Harper acted as best man. The bride's travelling costume was a navy serge, trimmed with black moire silk, with hat to match. The happy couple left by the afternoon train en route to "Napier, whero their honeymoon will bo spent. A reception was afterwards "held at the residence of the (bridegroom's .parents, whore a large number of friends tverc present. The marriage ceremony was~pe.rformcd by the "Rev. J. E. Parsons.
