There has been .considerable controversy lately over the appointment ctf a Vicar to the new parish of the district of St. A J bans East. A section of the Anglician.s carried a strong resolution, pretexting against the appointment of the Rev. J. C. Mortimer,- oil the ground that he is a Ritualist. Tihe .position is a peculiar one, in. that the Parish has a right to a vbice in.the selection• of a Vicar, whereas the appcdiu/ment- to the parochial -d'-^Hsri-et_i-& entirely in. the-liands bf the Eiishflf). Bishop Julius has now replied to the protect, • stilting that he has no intention of reconsidering his action. He adds: "The pecpie will serve the Church better by loyal support of the Vicar than by stirring up strife and making idle proteis/te." -v-.irn
