Erom Pater-son. New Jersey, comes news that sixteen silk mills have been -dosed in different parts of tho State following the demands of the -workers for increased pay. Seven thousand •workers .arc idle. Twenty thousand operatives at Massachusetts cotton mills are also idle lor ii similar cause, the owners having decided to shut down until tho differences ,-airo adjusted-." . ,
