Braithwaite left for Wellington on'his Triumph motor cycle to make ain attempt oni the existing figures of the Wellington, to Napier record—viz., Bhrs 35mm., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on, New Year's Day, 1909, also on » Triumph. In spite of several atitempts,"on, other makes of machines, this "record has l ' stood to the credit of-the Triumph for three years. Mr Rratihwaite left the Wellington Posit Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., bra time being 6brs. 38min., Towering the previous record by nearly fbwo hours.
