Messrs A. W. Hogg and A. H. Vile, members of tho Wellington Education Board, have been invited by the Prime Minister to be present at thelaying of tho foundation stone of th« new- Parliament Buildings in Wellington to-day. Mr Donald .Donald, of Masterton, intends shortly to leave for Sydney, and lafer will visit England and the Continent. The Masterton Chamber of Commerce, at its meeting yesterday afternoon, decided to,place on record, its appreciation of the work done by Mr R. W. Robson, of Masterton, while a member of the Chamber, and who shortly leaves for Tiraaru. The Rev. J. W. Burton, formerly of Masterton, who has already written a book on Fiji, has received advice that another of his works, "The Call of thePacific," has l>een' ; accepted by a London firm of publishers. r The wedding ■was celebrated at Maiigaramarama on Wednesday, at the residence,of, >fr W. Hew-iti, the contracting' partiesbeing Mr""-"'"Patrick Ryan, son of MfW. Ryan, of Australia, and Miss Emily Hewitt, youngest daughter of Mr W. Hewitt, of Mangaramaraana. Dr. P. R. Cook, who has been spending a few days in Wellington, returned to Masterton yesterday. Mass Jensen, v; who lias been assists ant teacher'at the Mauriceyille We.<*t school for some time, was entertained by the residents at a social evening on Thursday night, and was the recipient of a presentation.

The death occurred on Thursday at the Lower Hutt of the wife of Mr James Judd, the mother of Mr A. S! Judd, of Carterton. Mrs Judd had resided ih'the Hutt district since her arrival in the old emigrant ship "Esterope," at.the age of : 10 years, -from Kent. She had brought up a family of eleven children, nine of whom ar« still living, and branches of -the family are established throughout theWairarapa, Taranaki and Upper Hutt. Mrs Judd had lived in retirement for the last eight years, and had.been infailing .health for six months.
