CARTERTON. Mr A. S. Judd, of Carterton, reoeived the sad intelligence yesterday of the death of lias mother at the JHutt. The deceased lady, who was •well advanced in years, had not been enjoying the best of health lately, and t'he endi wta-s thus not unexipeofed. The Hastings Poultry Association' idecidfcd, at its annual meeting 011 Tuesday night to engage Mr Mems•worth, a poultry judge of Sydney, for their nexit show at a fee of £25. They shave made a proposition to the South ■Wairarapa Poultry Association, with •a view of the society securing his services while over here.
Mr A. Ramsay, who after a lengthy service in the Carterton Post Office, leaves" shortly on promotion to Hastings, is to be tendered a farewell social on Tuesday evening next-by the JocaJ Bowling Club, of which he has been an enthusiastic member.
At a meeting of the Foresters' Lodge 011 Wednesday evening, Bra H. :H. Armstrong was (presented with a •PCJR. collar for services rendered to the Court. Messrs W. Mflore and W. W. Mansfield have each .presented a seat to Carrington Park. A Nursing division of St. John Ambulance Brigade lias been formed in Carterton. Miss Moncrieff hias been elected superintendent; Miss. Shepherd .secretary and treasurer ; and Misses D'akin, Blatchford and Whyte form the management committee. Dr D. G. Johnston is the medical officer.
